Robert Liao, a devoted Buddhist and key figure in the history of Nan Tien Temple, shared his personal journey and contributions to the temple's development. Born in Taiwan, Robert's early life was deeply influenced by his mother's devout Buddhist faith. He pursued an education in accounting and later built a successful career in Taiwan before migrating to Australia.
Upon arriving in Australia, Robert contributed to the establishment of Fo Guang Shan branch temples. His dedication led to his role as the founding President of the Buddha's Light International Association Sydney Chapter, where he played a pivotal part in establishing and growing the Buddhist community. He was also instrumental in the construction and inauguration of Nan Tien Temple and in organising major events like the World Fellowship of Buddhists Conference in Sydney.
Robert emphasised the importance of education and culture in Buddhism's mission to nurture and transform the human spirit. His involvement with the Nan Tien Institute and the Hsing Yun Education Foundation underscored his belief in the power of education to foster spiritual growth.
